 Classes

1. There will be three classes for entrants to GPC print and digital competitions - Club, Intermediate & Advanced.
2. A member or members of the committee will review with new members the appropriate class in which to initially compete.
3. Following the results of the season's Advanced, Intermediate and Club Class Print and Digital competitions, the winners of the Intermediate and Club Class competitions will be considered for promotion to the next higher league. This will be discussed with the club member by the Internal Competition Secretary or another committee member prior to a final decision being made. However, it does not preclude a club member making their own decision to move to a higher class if they wish to compete at that level. If they do so, they must notify the Internal Competition Secretary before the start of the next season.

1. Certificates for the season's competitions and the Print and Digital Image of the Year competitions will be presented at the AGM.

 Entries

1. Entries for Print competitions must be 'logged in' on the appropriate evening in good time. The competition is deemed to start at 8.00pm. Late entries may be excluded.
2. Entries for Digital Competitions must be sent by email or handed over on a disc to the committee member co-ordinating any specific round no later than the Wednesday before the competition. This enables the images to be prepared in the software programme (ICPro) for the event. The formatting of digital entries is essential and details are available on the Club website - see Preparing an Image.
3. Digital images can be created from any format e.g. digital camera, slide or negative.
4. No limit on the age of an image (film/digital) is normally stipulated for entries unless specifically identified for a particular competition.
5. Unless otherwise specified, there is no upper size limit for mounted prints. However, the minimum size is 10in x 8in or A4 print size (excluding mount). All prints must be mounted. (NB SPA/PAGB external competitions limit the maximum size of entries (including mounts) to 50cm x 40cm. Therefore, it is recommended that entries to club competitions are limited to that size to make them suitable for use in external competitions as well).
6. The number of entries in the Print and Digital competitions is limited to three unless otherwise notified.
7. Each print entry must be marked with a title (announced prior to judging), the entrant's name and the date of the competition.
8. Digital entries should be resized to the projection format required by the club (currently 1400 pixels x 1050 pixels) and saved as jpeg images (full instructions on preparing digital entries are available on the Club website - see Preparing an Image).
9. Images awarded a maximum of 10 points, or significantly similar images, will not be eligible for re-use for five years. Also prints that score 10 may not be re-presented as digital images or vice versa.

 Marks

1. The competition judge will, after commenting, mark entries for prints out of 10.
2. Due to the type of software used for digital competitions (ICPro) scoring has to be done out of 20 with no half marks. These scores will be halved to match the format of the print competition's scoring.
3. For the Print and Digital Image of the Year competitions, only entries scoring a 10 will be eligible unless decided otherwise by the committee. The decision to accept scores of 9-1/2 and 9 would only be made if there is deemed to be insufficient images that scored a 10 in any category.

 Committee's Responsibility

1. The Committee will take every care of member's work, but images are entered at the owner's risk.
2. The Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry.
3. The ruling of the Committee is final in the event of any dispute.
4. Authors of images retain all copyright. However, images may be posted on the Club website with due recognition of the author.
