AV Using Digital Projection
My only claim to fame is that I was the first person to be awarded by the RPS a distinction for Slide-Sound sequences using digital projection. In my case it was an LRPS.

My most recent compilation "Lake Garda, Venice & Dolomites - a coach tour" is made up of seven sequences and lasts 35 minutes. Another recent one "Four Sequences and not a film in sight" lasts 15 minutes, each sequence was produced in less than 48 hours of the event.

Welcome Pack
Welcome packs will be available at the Club from 3 September 2003. The booklets contain information about the committee, club rules and frequently asked questions.

And the public said……
Always interesting to hear just what the viewers have to say of our photographs on display at this years' 23rd Annual Exhibition.

We were not disappointed.

Comments ranged from the succinct, as in 'peaceful' of David Southern's DUNELIN to the instructive, as in 'excellent sharpness, contrast good, slight alignment necessary' (!) Perhaps Mike Whelan would like to puzzle over this one. It was said of his, 'THE CITY'.

Len Deeley's print of DRIED PLANTS came in for much comment, 'unusual', 'convincing', and, 'thought it was 3D'. This remark featured twice. Len's print also gained 5 mentions to go with his Highly Commended from the judge.

Ian Head's COMMA BUTTERFLY also gained 5 mentions, 'it's a wonderful world' (from a Louis Armstrong fan no doubt), 'compelling'… 'well done' (a pat on the back there) and 'catching the moment.' (very Cartier Bresson)

The other print to have 5 mentions was David Southern's FOX CUB. 'What a rare sight!' (from a Hunt supporter?), 'very real' and, from a wannabe taxidermist, , 'the excellent fox!'

Many other pics were warmly received by Joe Public yet one thing is obvious and that is no one should ever bet on knowing what could be successful in terms of popular viewing. No surprise that only one print to meet the approval of our Judge was agreed with by the visitors.

The Exhibition itself, the mounting and displaying of the pictures, was very well received and your organisers are to be congratulated. There were 48 prints on display and allowing for the disparity in sizes this number would appear to be sufficient to make the better use of the museum's area.

We are booked in again for next year and this time for three weeks. The one aspect we can all improve upon is to provide entries much earlier. This would allow more time for collation and programming.

Thank you all again for your support in this.

And Finally…The One That Got Away
This is your chance to own up to the shot you should have got. Send me your stories, (maximum 150 words) and I will print a selection; there will be a small prize at the AGM for the best one.

Here's mine to start you off.

On a visit to Lincolnshire, Richard and I cycled to Tatershall Castle. It was a hot day, so on arrival we decided to have a drink.

Almost immediately, we heard the distinctive drone of Merlin engines and suddenly, overhead were two Spitfires of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight low over the church on finals for Coningsby. Both our cameras were still in their bags.
