High Pass Sharpening, cont'd

Screenshot 3

Select FILTER>OTHER>HIGH PASS

Screenshot 4

The slider at the bottom controls how many pixels are affected - the higher the radius, the sharper the image. A lower radius is suitable for a soft image like this flower. Press OK to select the changes.

If the effect is too harsh, select the opacity control in the top right of the layers palette and reduce the opacity.

The high pass filter can drain the colour from the image, so use ENHANCE>ADJUST COLOR>ADJUST HUE/SATURATION adjusting only the saturation slider. When you are satisfied with the colour, press OK. Go to LAYER>FLATTEN IMAGE.
