GPC retain SPA Print Open Championship

‘Fresh Chicken Kolkata style’ by Brian Houghton scored 13 points in the open competition

On 23rd November, Godalming Photographic Club returned to defend the Open championship in the annual SPA Inter-Club Print Competition, which was held at East Horsley Village Hall.

The main event included an open competition, with each club entering 16 prints, and a nature competition, with each club entering 8 prints. Following the competition, the leading two clubs are invited to represent the SPA at the national PAGB inter-club print competition in Blackburn next year.

Some of our members were there to show their support and see GPC win the open competition for the fourth year running. The club scored a total of 188 points, ahead of Bookham Camera Club in second with 183 points, and Windlesham and Camberley Camera Club in third with 182 points.

No GPC prints achieved a maximum score this year, but some of our members who scored highly include Brian Houghton, David Carine, David Hughes and Tim Clarke.

In the nature competition, GPC came joint fifth place alongside Reigate Photographic Society, but 5 points behind the eventual winners Molesey Photographic Club.

We look forward to returning to Blackburn next year to defend the Plate competition and compete for the other top prizes at the 2020 PAGB inter-club print championships.

Well done to all our members who were part of such a successful achievement.
